A very small, Victorian, cast iron flat iron with a detachable handle. This is marked, in the casting, “SENSIBLE NO.6 N.R.S. & CO”. I believe this to be a New York manufacturer and the iron dates from c.1880. The handle was detachable so that you could keep a spare base on the heat and just transfer the handle.
Dimensions: Length 10cm. Width 5cm. Height 8.8cm.
There is a burn mark on the handle but other than that it is in very good condition.
