A steel goffering iron complete with slug. This piece has a cast iron stand and it is marked, in the casting, 'A KENRICK & SONS'. There is also a number '7'. It dates from c.1880. The steel heating rod, or slug, would have been put into the fire, heated, and then inserted into the iron. This was then used for ironing ribbons, or suchlike, which would have been run across the hot iron. There is slight pitting to the steel but other than this it is in very good condition.
