A charming set of seven, 19th century, Minton picture tiles. Each tile is marked, in the potting to the reverse, “MINTON’S CHINA WORKS STOKE ON TRENT” and they also have a circular mark which reads “STOKE UPON TRENT MINTON WALBROOK LONDON”. They date from c.1880. Each one is decorated with a brown transfer print depicting figures at various rural pursuits and they are from the “Pastoral Series”. Three have small chips to the faces and the other four are in good condition. The faults can all be seen in the images of the individual tiles.
