A lovely shaped, 18th century, wooden mortar and pestle. This is English and dates from c.1780. Both pieces are well turned from hardwoods and the shapes of both are quite delightful. There has been some wood worm damage to the mortar, but this has been treated so it is no longer active, and the holes have been filled with wax. The pestle has a split to the widest part, a small piece missing from the collar on the handle and the finial has been off and restored but this is a piece full of character.
Dimensions: Mortar: Diameter 13.3cm. Height 13.5cm. Pestle: Length 23cm. Diameter 5.5cm.
