Code: J22648
A small, late nineteenth century, wooden pepper mill. This is French and it dates from c.1890. The mechanism is made from die cast alloy which has been copper coated. The pepper would be put into the mill through the sliding steel cover and then the mill would have been used at the table as there is no compartment to contain the ground pepper. It would be ground straight onto the food. The mill has been fully overhauled and is in very good, working condition. There is a small piece missing from the screw on the top of the mill. This was probably the same form as the cap which holds the handle in place. However, this does not affect the functionality of the piece.
