A 19th century, coopered, mahogany jardiniere. This piece is very nicely shaped and it is made from strips of mahogany which are held together with brass bands to the top and the foot. On the top band are two small, brass lion's head handles. It dates from c.1850 and is possibly Dutch. There are two small chips, one to the top and one just above the upper brass band. The wood has a lovely colour and patina and other than the two small chips it is in very good condition.
