A large, and quite unusual, carved wooden tray. This is French and it dates from the early 1930’s. To the underside it is signed by the carver but the script of the surname is not easy to read. I believe it to be “Y. Le Maur” and then it is dated “23 Juin 1931”. The ends of the tray are very well carved with large fruits. It is carved in a hardwood but, due to the coloured stain which has been applied, it is difficult to see the grain in order to identify the wood. There are a couple of very small scratches, from use, but overall it is in very good condition.
