A fabulous quality, 19th century, English copper, deep sauté pan and cover. The lid is stamped with “BENHAM & SONS WIGMORE ST. LONDON” within a strap shaped mark and it dates from c.1870. Both the lid and the pan are really well engraved with a large letter “M” and the address “29 Portman Square”. The M would have been the initial of the original owner. The pan is well made, from a very heavy gauge of copper. The copper is 2mm thick at the rim but thicker in the base. The pan measures 23.4cm. diameter by 8.5cm. deep and the overall length, including the handle, is 45.8cm. It is in excellent condition and we have had the interior re-tinned so that it can be used.
