Dehillerin Copper Casserole

Dehillerin Copper Casserole

Code: J21805

SOLD

An unusual, late 19th century, large, French copper casserole. This is marked “DEHILLERIN 18 RUE COQUILLIERE PARIS” but the mark is now quite worn. This company is still in existence, in the same property in Paris. It was founded in the 1820’s and this casserole dates from c.1890. It is also stamped with a large ‘B F’ a separate ’S’ and a number ’30’. The number relates to the diameter of the pan in centimetres. The casserole is well made from an exceptionally heavy gauge of copper. It has very strange shaped handles. They are basically the usual French form of handle but they bend down. This is so that the pan will fit into a smaller size oven than if they were to stick up. This is totally original as they have been cast in this manner. The piece is in excellent condition and the interior has been re-tinned so that it can be used.

Dimensions: Diameter 31.1cm. Height of pot 14.2cm. Total height including the  handle 16.5cm. Total width 39.5cm.
