A small, English copper, round bottomed bowl for sugar or eggs. This is quite unusual in that an egg bowl has a folding loop handle and a sugar bowl has two fixed handles, one to either side, but this has the folding loop on one side and a single, fixed brass handle on the other, so it would double for use with either sugar or eggs. The interior is quite pitted which would indicate that it has seen plenty of use for caramelising sugar. It dates from c.1860 and, other than for the pitting, it is in very good condition.
