A large, 19th century, English copper stockpot and cover. This is stamped, to the base, with the orb and cross symbol used by Benhams. It is also stamped with a large letter ‘C’. It is very well made, from a very heavy gauge of copper, and it has castellated seams around the base and up the side. It has the typical shape of bronze handles to both sides of the pot and also to the lid and it dates from c.1860. This type of lid, with the side handles, also doubles as a sauté pan which makes it even more useful. It is in excellent condition and the interior has been re-tinned so that it can be used.
