A fantastic, antique, French copper bain marie set dating from c.1860. This is a most unusual form and it is rare to find complete. The square, bain marie is well made, with castellated seams and beautifully designed , folding brass handles. Onto this sits a lid which supports the four bain marie pans, so that they don’t come into contact with the base of the bain marie. Two of these are marked with a number ’12’ to the lids and the other two are marked with a number ’10’. The numbers relate to the internal diameters of the pans. They each have small, acorn shaped brass finials to the lids and steel handles to the pans. Both the bain marie and the pans are made from a very heavy gauge of copper and are in excellent condition. There is just some slight pitting to the steel handles. The interiors of the pans have been re-tinned so that they can be used.
