A nineteenth century, French copper gratin dish. This type of dish is ideal for cooking dauphinoise potatoes or a vegetable bake, or simply as a small, roasting dish. This example is made from a substantial gauge of copper, it has a wired rim and folding, brass, loop handles to either end. It dates from c.1890 and has been re-tinned so that it can be used. There are scratch marks to the base, from use but otherwise it is in very good condition.
