A 19th century, French copper, circular pie plate or gratin dish. This is made from quite a heavy gauge of copper and it dates from c.1890. It has fine, folding brass loop handles to either side, which are attached by heart shaped copper fittings. It is in very good condition and the interior has been re-tinned so that it can be used. This type of dish is ideal for sweet or savoury pies, and also for vegetable gratins, and it can be taken straight from the oven to the table.
