Code: K22848
A super quality, 19th century, French copper saucepan and cover. Both the pan and cover are marked “L. JEAN RUE DE VERNEUIL 52”. The Jean family of coppersmiths, who started in the 1830’s, moved to Rue de Verneuil in 1860 and remained there until 1901 when the company closed. This mark dates the pan to c.1890. It is well made, from a very heavy gauge of copper, and the saucepan has a very slightly planished finish. Both the pan and cover have a typical French form of steel handle and the flat lid, which sits on top of the pan, can also double to be used on smaller saucepans. The pan and cover are both in excellent condition and the interiors have been re-tinned so that it can be used.
Dimensions: Diameter of pan 14.7cm. Depth of pan 9.4cm. Overall length of pan and handle 29.3cm.
