A 19th century, French copper saucepan and cover. This pan is well made, from a very heavy gauge of copper. Both the pan and the lid are stamped with a number ’16’ and this relates to the diameter of the pan. There is also a large ‘C’ stamped in the handle of the lid. The handles are one of the French forms which were used by a limited number of companies and pans with this form of handle are usually good quality. This one dates from c.1880. The pan is in excellent condition but there is slight pitting to the steel handle on the lid and also very slight marking to the copper on the lid. The interior has been re-tinned so that it can be used.
The pan is 16.2cm. diameter by 11.4cm. deep and the overall length of the pan and handle is 33cm.
