A French copper, 2 handled sugar bowl. This type of bowl was, and still is, used by confectioners for caramelising sugar. This one is marked with a number ’30’, which relates to the internal dimeter of the bowl, and there is also a small, circular mark. It has a rolled rim, brass handles and it dates from c.1890. It measures 31.8cm diameter by 19cm. high and the total dimensions, including the handles are 23cm. high by 37.2cm wide. There is pitting to the interior and slight marking to the copper on the exterior, all consistent with use.
