A large, and very heavy, French copper cooking pot. This type of pan is ideal for cooking large quantities of paella or suchlike. This one is marked ‘F.DEHILLERIN RUE DE COQUILLIERE’ and it dates from c.1890. It is also engraved with the initials ‘R.F’ and these would have been the initials of a previous owner. It is made from an exceptionally heavy gauge of copper, weighing over 8 kilos, and it has brass handles to either side. It is in excellent condition and the interior has been re-tinned, so that it can be used. The pan measures 38.6cm. diameter by 10cm. deep. Overall, inducing the handles, it is 48.5cm. wide by 14.2cm. high.
