An enormous, French copper salmon kettle, or poissonniere, complete with drainer. This is made from a heavy gauge of copper and the copper has a slightly planished finish. It has castellated seams around the base and up one end and the handles to the ends and also to the lid are fairly simple in form. It dates from c.1850. It is in very good condition with just very minor denting consistent with use. The tinning, although slightly worn, is still good enough for the piece to be used occasionally.
