A large, nineteenth century, French copper, circular skimmer. This type of utensil was used for skimming when making preserves. This example is made from a heavy gauge of copper, has a turned end to the handle which is shaped like a shepherd’s crook, and it dates from c.1880. It is in excellent condition.
