Large copper baking dish

A large, French copper gratin or baking dish. This is a very useful size as it is good for a vegetable gratin, or dauphinoise, for a large number of people or it could be used for roasting a good sized chicken or fish. Perfect for Christmas for taking straight from the oven to table.
It is made from a substantial gauge of copper and has attractive, fixed, cast brass handles to either end. It dates from c.1890. It is in excellent condition and although we have not had it re-tinned, the tinning is still in very good, usable condition.
The dish measures 41.5cm long by 27.5cm wide by 5.7cm deep and the total dimensions, including the handles are 49.3cm. long by 6.8cm high. Although it is longer than most ovens are wide, it will fit, diagonally, into a standard oven.
