A large, French copper sugar bowl. This type of bowl, with two fixed, brass handles and a rounded base, was used for caramelising sugar when making sweets. They were made in all sizes and this is a good, large example dating from c.1870. It is made from a very heavy gauge of copper, which has a very slightly planished finish, and it has a rolled rim. It is in excellent condition.
