An unusual, 19th century, deep, oval copper pie dish with a flat rim. This is English, it is made from quite a heavy gauge of copper, and it dates from c.1870. The shape and size is not at all common and it is the first of its’ type that we have had. It could be used for making a huge meat pie, or even a fruit pie, and would be ideal to take straight from the oven to the table as it is very impressive.
