A lovely quality, 19th century, copper straining spoon. This is made from a very heavy gauge of copper and it has a turned end, shaped like a shepherds’ crook, so that it can hang. The pierced spoon would have been used for skimming the scum from the top of the jams etc. when making preserves. It is in excellent condition and it dates from c.1870.
