A super quality, large, French copper, deep saute pan and cover. Both the pan and cover are marked “GRANDS MAGASINS DU LOUVRE PARIS”. They are also stamped with a number ’27’ which relates to the size in centimetres. The Grands Magazines du Louvres is a huge Parisian department store that was founded in 1855 and closed in 1974. This would have been made by one of the leading French copper manufacturers, probably Allez Brothers, for sale in the store. The shape of the steel handles is typical of those produced by Allez Brothers. The pan is made from an exceptionally heavy gauge of copper and dates from c.1880. It is in excellent condition and the interior has been re-tinned so that it can be used.
Dimensions: Diameter of pan 27.5cm. Depth of pan 7.8cm. Overall length of pan and handle 55.3cm.
