Small, French Copper Casserole

Small, French Copper Casserole

Code: J21559

SOLD

A small, rectangular, French copper casserole. This is an interesting shape as it is larger at the base and it tapers inwards towards the rim. It is made from a substantial gauge of copper, with castellated seams around the base and up the side, and it dates from c.1860. It has fairly simple brass handles to either end and a flat, copper strap handle to the lid. It is in very good condition and the interior has been re-tinned so that it can be used. However, the base is very slightly convex so it would not sit well on an Aga. It is fine for use on gas or in an oven.

Dimensions: Length of pan at base 33.4cm. Width of pan at base 21cm. Overall length including the handles 41cm. Overall height including the handles 20cm.
