A small, 19th century, French copper casserole. This is well made, from a very heavy gauge of copper, and it has castellated seams around the base and up the side. It has steel handles to the side of the pan and also to the lid and it dates from c.1860. This type of pan, with the short side handle, is good for use on top of the stove but is also designed so that it can fit into the oven. Pans of this type are not common in such a small size. It is in excellent condition and the interior has been re-tinned so that it can be used.
