A small, French copper gratin dish with fixed brass handles. This piece is marked ’28’ to the side of one of the handles. To the other side of the handle is a number ‘7’. The 28 relates to the internal length of the pan but the 7 is a mystery. It is a good quality gratin dish, made from a heavy gauge of copper and with attractive brass handles to both ends. It dates from c.1880. It is in excellent condition and the interior has been re-tinned so that it can be used. It is a very useful size for the smaller household. The dish measures 29cm. long by 19cm. wide by 4cm. deep. The overall length, including the handles, is 35.2cm.
