A very unusual, 19th century, French copper casserole. This piece is made from quite a heavy gauge of copper. It has castellated seams around the base and up the side and it dates from c.1860. It has a folding brass handle and originally would have hung over the fire. The lid is flat and has a small, brass loop handle. It is in excellent condition and we have had the interior re-tinned, so it can be used. It would be ideal fro stews or soups and could be taken straight from the stove to the table as it is also a very decorative piece.
Height 21.5cm Diameter 26cm.
