A very unusual, and highly decorative, copper colander. This has been made in sections. The foot rim has a moulded design, with castellated seams and a rolled rim. This is attached to the top section by a wide band with a further moulded design and castellated seams. The top section, with the pierced base, originally had a different form of handle and you can see where these have been removed and long, steel, strap handles have been added. It is French and dates from c.1870. It is in excellent condition and the interior has been re-tinned so that it can be used.
Dimensions: Diameter 30cm. Width 34.5cm. Height including the handles 21cm.
