A Wedgwood basalt violeteer and pierced cover, with relief decoration. The base of the violeteer is marked ‘WEDGWOOD’ and it also has a number '6', a letter 'A' and a small workman's mark. The number 6 relates to the size and the piece dates from c.1860. The violeteer is decorated with a band of classical figures, trees and foliage and the lid has stylised flowers and leaves. The base would have held water and flowers would have been placed through the pierced lid. Both the base and lid are in excellent condition.
