A small, Wedgwood, black basalt bowl decorated with harebells and acanthus. This is marked 'WEDGWOOD' and it dates from c.1850. It is also impressed with a number '4 1/2' and this relates to the size of the bowl in inches. It is sprig moulded with the harebell and acanthus design and to the rim is a border of oak leaves and acorns. All of the relief decoration is of a very fine quality and the bowl is in excellent condition. This design was more often used on larger pieces and is not often seen on a bowl of this small size.
