A Wedgwood, black basalt cream or milk jug. This is marked “WEDGWOOD ENGLAND” and it dates from.1900. It is also impressed with a number ‘5’. It is decorated, in relief, with a band of classical figures offering sacrifices. The interior of the jug is glazed, although this was purely for aesthetic reasons as basalt is a non porous body. The reliefs are all good quality and the jug is in excellent condition.
