An interesting, dark blue jasper dip inkwell and stand. This is quite an unusual shaped piece. Both the stand, and the base of the inkwell, are impressed 'WEDGWOOD' and this dates from c.1850. The stand also has two large impressed 'V's.There is some writing to the base, which is now quite worn, but it includes the names Capt. R. Mitchell, Mrs R. Mitchell and the date August 25th 1859. All of the reliefs are very finely detailed and the jasper dip is a good, rich, shade of blue. There is some old restoration to the stand. A piece of the raised rim, into which the inkwell sits, has been restored. The three parts of the inkwell are all in very good condition.
