A large, Wedgwood, dark blue jasperware jardiniere. This piece is marked 'WEDGWOOD. MADE IN ENGLAND' and it dates from c.1920. It is also impressed with a number '10' and this relates to the size. It is decorated, in relief, with six of the Muses. They are standing beneath garland of grapes and vines, which hang from lion's heads. With the larger jardinieres there is always extra detail in the garlands and they are finely modelled, with extra tendrils on the vines. To the top is a narrow border of flowers. The jardiniere is in excellent condition.
