Lovely Quality, 19th Century, Wedgwood Vase

Lovely Quality, 19th Century, Wedgwood Vase

Code: K23181

SOLD

A super quality, Wedgwood, dark blue jasper dip, two handled vase and cover. This is marked “WEDGWOOD ENGLAND” and it also has an impressed number “1891”. This would be the year of manufacture. It was the first year that Wedgwood started to mark with the word England and it is unusual to see the date in this way on a piece. The vase is made in three sections, with the base and socle bolted onto the main section. To the central section of the vase is a band of relief depicting the dancing hours and there are various, attractive, foliate and classically designed borders. The white jasper, upright handles on the shoulders of the vase terminate in Bacchus masks and these are very well modelled with excellent detail. All of the white reliefs are also very good quality and the jasper dip is a lovely rich shade of blue. This is a very fine piece, and both the vase and lid are in excellent condition.

Dimensions: Height 26.5cm.  Diameter 12cm. Width 12.5cm.
