A small, oval, Wedgwood, dark blue, jasper dip, match box. This shape of box was made either for matches or as a trinket box. This one has a rough section on the underside of the lid and this was for striking the matches. It is marked 'WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND' and it dates from c.1920. It is decorated with a number of different classical subjects. The reliefs to the side of the box are not the crispest, suggesting that they were late examples out of the mould. Both the box and cover are in very good condition.
