A small, Wedgwood, dark blue jasper dip violeteer. This piece is marked ‘WEDGWOOD’ and it dates from c.1840. It is also impressed with a large letter ‘A’ which is a workman’s mark. The base of this would have been filled with water and then small flowers would have been placed through the holes in the lid. The decoration is simple, with acanthus leaves and small flowers, in white relief, to the lid.The reliefs are good quality and the blue is a good, rich shade. It is a charming little piece and it is in excellent condition.
