A fascinating Wedgwood, grey jasperware plate with white relief. Although only a plate, this piece is very interesting for Wedgwood collectors. Wedgwood made a solid grey jasperware from 1777 to 1820 but it is incredibly rare. This is marked 'WEDGWOOD' and it dates from c.1790. The jasper has a very silky finish and the white relief is very finely detailed. It is in excellent condition. Wedgwood did, of course, produce a grey jasper in the 20th century but that is totally different in quality, production and value.
