A pair of Wedgwood, pale green jasper dip bottle bottles and covers. These are marked “WEDGWOOD” and they date from c.1880. They also have a printed mark on the base which reads “ MANUFACTURED FOR HUMPHREY TAYLOR & CO. LONDON 1770 DISTILLERS OF FAMOUS LIQUEURS. BY WEDGWOOD”. Humphrey Taylors were established in 1770 and these were possibly designed for the centenary of the company in 1870. They would have been sold containing a liqueur. Wedgwood continued to supply some bottles, of various types, to the company until the 1920’s. Each of the bottles is decorated, in white relief, with four of the Muses standing between tress. To the neck is a band of grapes and vines and the lids are decorated with leaves. The reliefs are all good quality and both the bottles and the stoppers, are in excellent condition.
