A 19th century, Wedgwood, sage green jasper dip match box and cover. This is marked “WEDGWOOD” and it dates from c.1870. Matches would be kept in the pot and there is a moulded, ridged base which was used for striking the matches. It is decorated with three different classical subjects to the pot and a further one to the lid. Around the base is a fine foliate border. The reliefs are all good quality and both the pot and lid are in excellent condition.
