Wedgwood Green Jasper Tea Caddy

Code: J22610

SOLD

An early nineteenth century, Wedgwood, green jasper dip tea caddy and cover. This is marked “WEDGWOOD” and it dates from c.1820. The jasper dip is a very attractive shade of green and the jasper body is very smooth. The caddy is decorated, in white relief, with various scenes of putti at play. To the shoulder of the caddy is a band of flowers and there is a classical border to the rim. The lid is decorated with acanthus leaves. All of the reliefs are very good quality, typical of the period. Unfortunately the lid has been restored but the restoration is only to the collar which sits down into the neck of the caddy so it is not noticeable when the lid is in place. Other than that the piece is in excellent condition.

Dimensions: Height 14cm. Diameter 8.4cm.
