An unusual, Wedgwood, smear glazed caneware vase with blue relief decoration. This piece is marked 'WEDGWOOD'  to the base. It also has a small tool mark which is known as the moustache mark, and there are impressed letters 'RK'. It dates from c.1830. Around this time the smear glazed pieces started to come into fashion and Wedgwood experimented with various colour combinations. The vase is decorated, in a vibrant shade of blue, with putti at various pursuits and to the rim is a border of scrolling flowers. The relief work is very finely detailed and the piece is in excellent condition.
