A pair of Wedgwood Majolica glazed plates with pierced borders. Each one is impressed 'WEDGWOOD' but they also have other marks. One is impressed with the letters 'GXZ' and a single letter 'F'. GXZ is the date code for the year 1871. The other has the impressed letters 'CGY' and a single letter 'D'. CGY is the date code for the year 1870. There is also a painted '3 X', which may be a workmans mark, on each plate. These plates have very attractive borders which are pierced with a Grecian style design. The plates are then coloured with a mixture of green, brown and yellow majolica glazes. Due to the nature of the glaze each plate looks slightly different. They are both in perfect condition.
