A set of four Wedgwood, green majolica glazed plates. Each plate is impressed ‘WEDGWOOD’ . Three are also impressed with the letters ‘WGH’. This is the date code for 1879. They also have a single letter ‘D’ which is a workman’s mark. The fourth has a very indistinct date code. Each plate has a border which is moulded with a geometric design. This is then covered, all over, with a green, majolica glaze. This design is very unusual and, in over 30 years of dealing in Wedgwood, it is the first time that we have seen it. All four plates have typical glaze crazing but they are in excellent condition.
