A Wedgwood, majolica, dessert service comprising twelve plates and two comports. Each piece is moulded in the form of a scallop shell and then covered in green, brown and ochre majolica glazes. Due to the nature of the glaze each piece appears slightly different and the overall effect is very pleasing. Each piece is marked ‘WEDGWOOD’ and they also have impressed date codes. The three letter date codes vary slightly between the pieces but they all end with either an ‘R’ or an ’S’ which dates them to 1863 and 1864. Each plate is 22cm long by 21.5cm. wide and the comports are 23.3cm by 23cm, by 11.5cm. high. They are well potted and they are all in excellent condition.
