An interesting, Wedgwood majolica jug. This is marked “WEDGWOOD” and it is also impressed with the letters “DUI” which is the date code for the year 1880. The moulded form shows oriental influence and the colouring is quite unusual for majolica glazes as it is quite subtle. There is a painted pattern number “3716 L” to the base. Although I have seen plates, and also a cheese dome, in this design I have not seen a jug in this form before. It is in excellent condition.
