Wedgwood, White Stoneware Jug

Wedgwood, White Stoneware Jug

Code: J22213

SOLD

A Wedgwood, moulded stoneware jug. This is marked “WEDGWOOD” and it dates from c.1830. It is also impressed with a large ‘O’. It is moulded, in white stoneware, with groups of putti to either side and this is covered with a smear glaze. Wedgwood produced limited amounts of this type of pottery and it is more usually found in the form of teapots, making this quite an unusual piece. This shape of jug was produced in jasperware and it was known as the “Club” jug due to the shape of the rim.

It is in excellent condition.
