A nineteenth century, wooden butter roller carved with flowers and foliage. This type of roller was used for imprinting a design around the edge of a block of butter. This example is carved, from beechwood, with a repeated design of a flower and leaf. It is English and it dates from c.1870. There is some staining to the wood, from use, but other than that it is in very good condition.
