An early nineteenth century, two part, wooden butter mould. This is carved, in sycamore, with a duck. The carving is deep and beautifully detailed and the mould is in quite good condition. One of the wooden pegs which would have originally held the mould together is missing and the other is broken. There are numerous woodworm holes throughout the mould and they can be seen in the images. They have been treated and the worm is no longer active.
